MARKETING A NEW AGE.
WHERE I BEGAN

In 2016, I created my first page, @decentbirthday. It was quickly successful, as I had discovered a recipe for virality - short, easy to consume jokes, often formatted as iMessage screenshots. As impressions went up, brands began reaching out, requesting I package their products into my content. That’s when I realized the potential of advertising in social media. That it didn’t have to be boring. That the landscape of it all was changing.

Hello there!

I’m Palmer, a creative coordinator, copywriter, content producer, and social media specialist based in Los Angeles. Ever since I was 16, I’ve been running pages and writing content on the internet. Videos, memes, ads, you name it.

As a professional, I’ve utilized these talents to spearhead viral ad campaigns, manage brand accounts, write for Snapchat, and share my unique perspective on how to manage and utilize social media for business and entertainment in today’s world.

I’M HERE FOR YOU - SELLING A SUPER BOWL AD

In 2019, after a few years of running micro-ad campaigns for small brands, I was approached by the Santa Monica based ad agency, BLK-OPS. They saw big screen potential with a tweet I wrote two years ago, and they wanted to make a commercial out of it. So I sold the licensing rights to the tweet (pictured right), and less than two weeks later, it was repackaged as a Lyft x T-Mobile ad that aired during the third quarter of Super Bowl LIII.

The ad (also pictured right) was a smash hit. Over one hundred million eyes on a commercial written by a 17 year old. As a result, I ended up interning/freelancing for the ad agency in the coming years, learning the ins and outs of copywriting beyond social media. And then, a few years down the line, CBS aired a special where they ranked the commercial as the #13th best Super Bowl ad of all time.

INNOVATING WITH VIRALITY: THE STORY OF DOWN BAD PATROL

After the success of Down Bad Patrol, I was approached by the Los Angeles based Snapchat Show, Phony Content. They loved my work, and brought me on as full-time writer after I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2022. During this time, I wrote short form text message stories that aired on the Snapchat explore page to millions of subscribers. I pitched/wrote short stories every week, amassing millions of views across their various channels. I was also their social media specialist, managing their Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok pages, all of which had above or around one million followers each.

In December of 2020, I was part of the creative team for Fallen Media, a New York based social media marketing startup. Their goal was simple: Create fun pages, or “brands” that we could grow and utilize for social media ad campaigns. This inspired me to create Down Bad Patrol, a page dedicated to laughing at the throes of male dating.

It was an instant success. In under a month, I grew the Twitter from 5,000 followers to nearly 1.2 million followers by only posting humorous text message screenshots that I’d write myself. It was the talk of the internet. I was the fastest growing page on Twitter. Everyone started using the term “Down Bad”. Cody Ko even made two videos about it.

This, of course, caught the eye of my employer, who I then sold the rights to. With their help, the brand flourished. The Instagram hit 130k followers, and the TikTok hit 1.2 million. We hired a popular TikToker to host a “Down Bad” show, we sold merchandise, and we worked with companies like CashApp and Manscaped on viral ad campaigns.

Over the years, I’ve managed many large social media pages. Some for myself, some for brands.
